month 6
ooohhh.... almost passed the deadline (from the one person standing outside our papered over window who said she'd "give it 6 months"). Feels like things are settling in and filling up. I still have to rearrange the store frequently to accommodate new arrivals and changing windows. But it keeps me entertained. This week we change from the terrace window to something.... oh yeah, vintage ladies, including Sachi's glamour girl buttons bracelets, Alisson's fun tote bags and very entertaining cards. I can't make up my mind -- one of my favorites is "I love you more today than yesterday. Yesterday you were really annoying." But I also like "You say tomato. I say F*** you." Obviously some statement on the state of my mind.
I was all caffeinated and set to go last night when I found my spray adhesive only about a quarter full. So, didn't get too far on magnet picture frames. Sigh. So much for good intentions. This week I start the CD cataloging job as well as a weekend cat sitting job, yoga, groceries... I have good intentions of working on the covers of those sewn journal pages and also making more pages in my journal from last weekend...if I can stand all the thinking and emotions that it calls up.
Last weekend we had a custom button picture frame to assemble --
the woman brought in copies of various family pictures for a 40th
wedding anniversary present. One of the buttons said "because 2 people
fell in love." It was very sweet. What else? Sachi made lots of the
bottle cap beads into necklaces; we got a new shipment of magnet
clothespins. And lots more from Emily and Naomi, though the Wild Things coasters are already low again. Our long-awaited shipment of ceramic tags in fun colors with retro images arrived today from Chicago. Don't the colors look nice against the wall?
And after a little mix-up (with another Anthology in Virginia or somewhere) we should soon be getting a shipment of spiral bound journals made from old books. Oh, and another local Emily brought us some mini notebooks, sewn photo cards, and a few plushies. To be honest, this whole plushy thing really mystifies me but now Emily's sock monsters are keeping Lindsay's baguette and croissant company.
Congratulations on six months in business! Here's to the next six months and many more after that!
